Our Story

Craig and Laurie Pelkey are the owners of Disaster Recovery, Inc. based in Central Vermont.  Together, while raising four children, they started Disaster Recovery, Inc. in 2009, building the company one step at a time.  Starting from a spare room in their home with a few pieces of equipment, Craig has grown the company into the business it is today with over 10 employees,  a fleet of vehicles and numerous pieces of specialty equipment.

Craig's attention to detail makes sure the client is receiving the most professional service possible.  Our goal is to provide a level of service that we would want in our home if we were in the same situation. 

Craig's background includes serving 4 years for the country in the US Marine Corps, and several years working in a local factory before moving into the restoration industry.  He has been drying and cleaning hundreds of homes and businesses in Central and Southern Vermont for many years.  He is a Certified Restoration Technician with the Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification, the IICRC.  He is also EPA Certified for lead abatement.  Disaster Recovery, Inc. is an IICRC certified firm that requires us to maintain excellent standards as we provide these services to our clients.

Laurie has a degree from the University of Vermont in Radiation Therapy.  She has been a Radiation Therapist at the local cancer center for over 26 years.  Laurie's role as Office Manager is to take care of all the behind-the-scenes work; payroll, invoicing, employee paperwork and bookkeeping. 

Together they make an excellent team that is well versed in any disaster situation.  With their knowledge and background, they are here to provide a necessary service to their fellow community members whenever they may need assistance-whether at home or the office.
